The Soul Goals, Episode 46: Cathy

Growing up in the Philippines, volleyball coach Cathy Cram was well loved and made the most of the humble opportunities she had.  Hard work was never something she shied away from and she dove head first in to everything she loved.  For Cathy, volleyball was one of those quick-developing passions as she began playing as a barely 5 foot outside hitter on a concrete court in her hometown.  Coaches saw her work ethic and her coachable style and she saw great success within the organizations that she rose through.

Cathy knew that, although her family support was broad and expansive, she wanted more for her career.  Meeting her husband, John, gave her the ability to spread her wings and find even more support.  As she moved to the United States with her two young children, her dreams of being able to help support her family in the Philippines became a reality and her passion for volleyball reignited.  

Cathy has been a part of leading state championship high school teams, high level indoor teams, and trained players who have gone on to stellar collegiate and professional careers.  Her no-nonsense coaching style and her passion for the game comes through in every rep she doles out to her players.  She is an advocate for others and has a true gift for helping them find the best pieces of themselves not only for their game, but for their lives.  This mighty lady’s meager beginnings certainly laid the groundwork for her current success.  In our household, we like to refer to her as “our Coach Cathy.”  She is a testament to never giving up on your passions and dreams!
