The Soul Goals
The Soul Goals, Episode 29: Coach K
Strength and Conditioning Coach Kyle Feldman’s power and strength goes well beyond her physical layer. Her dedication to her athletes and helping them achieve their goals in the weight room dates back to her own perseverance in her athletic career as a dancer at Colorado State University. The experience she brings to the youth that she works with is invaluable. Her approach to life has been formed through her journey as she shares of herself in such a giving way each day with the athletes she trains.
Coach K grew up fast in a family of entertainers and learned to be resourceful at a young age. Her strong family ties alongside her independent nature both proved to be a foundation for her in the midst of her own seasons of growth. Being told repeatedly that, at her stature and as a female, she should hang up any idea of being a strength and conditioning coach and specialist only fueled her drive as she navigated an area of work where only a few females had stepped foot. She worked to prove herself and earned the respect of her peers for the contributions she was offering in an arena of athletics that hadn’t seen her 5’3”, Brooklyn, New York tenacity and went on to hold positions at Northern Colorado, the Air Force Academy, Oregon State, the University of Washington, and Auburn University.
Coach K’s ability to relate to and empathize with her student athletes has been one of the biggest gifts she extends to those she trains. She believes in growing the human and not just the muscle and doesn’t take a single moment of her day for granted. She approaches each day with a gratitude for her work and those she gets to train with and lives from a place of vulnerability and transparency. Through her struggles, she found fortitude. Through her challenges, she found opportunities. And through her faith and belief, she found healing and freedom.
